The newest member of our Kohawk family: Michael Prunty.
When the newest member of our program admitted his love for "West Coast style soccer," I knew I had found the new Yoda to my Skywalker...or perfect coach for our team.
Emerging into spring season with a new coach, mindset, and program goals was scary, but also exciting, full of hope, and refreshing. With a newfound energy, positive vibe, and enthusiasm for spring training, I truly feel our program made immense strides this spring season.
Being from California, "West Coast style soccer," aka quick passes, possession, and ball skills, have been drilled into my training sessions and head since the day I stepped foot on a field. To say I was eager to train the way my mind and body thought and moved is a complete understatement.
Even within the first couple practices, I could already tell that Coach Michael's intense drills, focus on technique, and speed of play were beginning to instill into our players' game. Passes were crisper, touches were tighter, and our ability elevated quickly.
After a short 11 practice season and a few friendly scrimmages, I walked away from the spring feeling thrilled, confident, and optimistic about the future of our program and the progress we had already made in such a short amount of time. Imagine this season when we practice and play together everyday!? I know, I get butterflies thinking about it, too.
I just cannot even begin to imagine how much our team is going to excel this year if we continue to train as vigorously as we did for the last several weeks of school.
So, here is to new beginnings, a new coach, new energy, a new mindset, and hopefully, a Conference ring. I cannot wait to witness our program truly sky-rocket this year. I feel it in my bones.
