Homecoming, October, and Funzies, Oh My!
One of the great things about being a college student is that I never have down time to sit and twiddle my thumbs or binge watch TV, which is awesome for a "Type A" busy bee like myself. However, one of the worst things about being a blogger is just that; living the hectic life of a college student.
SO, I am sorry for the delay, but after a week of midterms, dances, late nights, games (aka victories), and team bonding, I am finally able to sit down and share what your favorite Kohawks have been up to lately.
This past Saturday, October 8, was Homecoming, otherwise known as the best day ever and an early Christmas present. If I haven’t made this clear already, I. Love. Homecoming. I love it. Homecoming is the absolute greatest because Coe’s campus comes to life even more than it usually is, which I never thought was possible, everyone is outside hanging out and enjoying perfect weather together, and alum come back to campus to celebrate with students. You get to catch up with recent grads, hear stories and classic tales from older Coe alum, and cheer on your favorite football team. There is tailgating, food, and lots of laughs to be shared. After all of the morning and afternoon festivities are said and done, the Homecoming 5K, parade, tailgating, football game, etc., THEN it is time for the jewel of my whole entire year, the Homecoming dance. I don’t think I have to describe why the Homecoming dance is the best. It’s a dance…on Homecoming. What could get any better?
To top it all off, one of our very own seniors was on Homecoming Court this year and is now your 2016-2017 Homecoming Court Royalty!!! Kelsey Fauser, you deserve every ounce of that title.
Homecoming 2016 was one for the books and I cannot wait to share the glory of this magnificent day with future Kohawks to come.
To celebrate the start of October and Halloween, Coach surprised the team yesterday, October 12, and organized a pumpkin carving contest. After being split into random groups, we were allotted a certain amount of time to carve our best and most creative masterpiece. Though some of us fell a little short of the challenge (aka my group because we didn’t finish carving our letters, lol), when you put a group of athletes in a competition setting, even if it is just pumpkin carving, you best believe our competitive natures will come out. Regardless, partaking in holiday traditions as a team/family is one of the many blessings of being a part of this program and it was fun to see the team gathered for some youthful fun.
It has been a crazy chaotic week at Coe, but we have Fall Break and no school the next four days, which means even more time to work hard, practice, get ahead on school work, clean my room, blog, and make important calls to my loved ones at home…ORRRR sleep, eat, watch movies, catch up on TV, bake some fall treats, go to an apple-picking ranch, and lounge around. We will see how this college girl feels ;)
Until next time,
Jessy
