Non-Conference Match #11: Iowa Wesleyan, September 28
Tomorrow's match is extra exciting because for the first time in Coe Women's Soccer history, we are hosting a Faculty Appreciation Game!
This event is extremely well-deserved and special because the professors and staff that make up Coe are truly the best you will ever find. The faculty here cares about our Kohawks not only as students, but as people and individuals outside of the classroom, too. Coe's staff constantly goes above and beyond to make sure its students are thriving in every aspect of their lives. Whether it be social, athletics, clubs, home life, jobs, internships, opportunities off campus, you name it, the faculty here is so giving of their time, energy, and effort to meet our holistic needs as students...and human beings.
There have been multiple times I have scheduled last minute life crisis meetings with my professors, who unquestionably calm me down and help me problem solve. I have had several professors feed me meals at their house, offer to help this SoCal girl in unknown Iowa weather (aka floods or winter snow), and email me back at 3 a.m. when I am stressing about a test.
I go to the cafeteria every day and am greeted by faculty and staff, who know my name, smile, and make my day 10 times brighter.
When I receive mail, I am greeted by a friendly and caring mail room worker who takes an interest in how I am really doing on that particular day, as with book store employees.
I walk around Coe and can openly wave, smile at, and converse with the various grounds keepers and security our campus is lucky enough to have.
Coe's culture is the way it is because of the staff we as students can emulate ourselves after. We are so fortunate to have the adults in our lives that we do, and it is time we as a soccer program acknowledged our faculty for the hard work and influence they have in our four year experience.
Not only that, but we as athletes are especially grateful for our professors and staff. Because we sometimes have conflicts with games, competitions, matches, class and tests, balancing the student-athlete life can be quite challenging. However, Coe's staff eases the stress tremendously because of their ability to work around our athletic conflicts and make being a student, and an athlete, here at Coe a truly enjoyable experience.
I couldn't ever imagine, and I would never want to be, at student-athlete on any other campus.
Coe faculty...THANK YOU.
With all that being said, tomorrow's game is taking place at home, at 3 p.m., against Iowa Wesleyan. Faculty and staff will be recognized at the game, have seats on the field placed beside our team bench, and are joining us for a team potluck afterwards. You can follow Tweets of the event using our program's Twitter handle; @coe_soccer_W, or watch our match using the link below.
Thanks for your support and go Kohawks!
