D3 and Proud
With another soccer season underway and exactly four days until the first match of my sophomore season, it is hard to believe and fully comprehend just how quickly these next few months are going to fly by.
The more practices that pass, hard work that is exerted, sweat produced, and aches gained, the deeper I gain a pride and appreciation in what it means to be a student-athlete, even if it is "only for Division 3."
Being a student-athlete at any level, Division aside, is a challenging, emotional, hectic, and chaotic lifestyle, but one that is equally as rewarding, self-progressive, fun, no matter what school you attend.
Despite what society tells me about the competition I face at D3, or the program I am involved in, or the growth I will achieve, being a Division 3 student-athlete has no less heart, work-ethic, dedication, commitment, or grit. We practice, we struggle, we fight, we compete, we play, we win, we bleed, we sweat, we cry, and we will continue to do so no matter the odds or stacking of the deck.
So, want to know why I think Divisions are simply followed by empty and meaningless numbers? Take a look below. I am D3 and proud.
