Locals Week Shenanigans
Although I am only a sophomore and have yet to attend a multitude of Locals Weeks, I can firmly say, without any doubt, that Locals Week is probably...okay, definitely, my favorite week of the entire season. Locals Week is the "week" before preseason practices begin when the new team comes together for the first time to get to know one another, laugh, eat (a lot), explore, share stories, test limits, open up to one another, laugh some more, bond, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
Locals Week is also exciting because it is the freshman class' first time meeting each other all together in one setting! Although the nerves can be high, the anticipation, smiles, and laughs never cease to appear, making the upperclassman's hearts full of love, happiness, and hope for the season to come.
This year for Locals Week we had team bonding at Shay's house the first night and then a jam-packed second day full of soccer fun, a water park visit, and a first ever Coe Women's Soccer cookout. Our third day consisted of a practice fitness test, a team trip the beautiful Palisades, and a group movie and cookie night. Day four, the last and final day, was chalk-full of adventure, including soccer foot skills, a campus-wide game of capture the flag, a competitive and energy-intensive scavenger hunt around Cedar Rapids, and a fancy team dinner (soccer girls can dress up too, right?).
Overall, it was quite an eventful Local's Week full of lots of memories, laughs, love, and bonding. Local's Week 2016 was one for the books and has set the foundation for another awesome season to come!
Next stop; move in day and PRESEASON BABY!!
