To my Seniors on Senior Day...
The day has come, the time is near
How the heck is it already here?
Senior night has come at last
These past four years went too fast.
Little did I know way back then
That our time to ring the bell would come to an end.
From day one to right now
Our moments together have been profound.
I will never forget our first Local’s Week
Sitting around that campfire grinning cheek to cheek.
I will always remember our long bus rides
And dancing in the locker room until our nerves would subside.
I hold near and dear our favorite team traditions
Like Rough Riders, pumpkin carving, and our song superstitions.
I took it all for granted, that is for sure
What I would give to rewind this four year blur.
We once were in high school, believe it or not
Ready to take on college without a second thought.
Congrats to us, we’ve come this far.
Eighteen year old you would be proud of who you are.
We’ve grown in the classroom, we’ve excelled on the field
We’ve had each other’s backs when the struggle was real.
Injuries, losses, home sickness, and failed tests
We went through it all together and put our worries to rest.
Eventually we will be forced to hang up our cleats
No more stadium lights, no more opportunities to compete.
But when that day comes, let’s hold our heads high
For a job well done in these years that flew by.
While sadness may be the first thought that comes to mind
This program has given happiness that is one of a kind.
Think back to you three years ago
Did you just smile? I believe so.
So happy senior night to you, my collegiate day one(s)
Thank you for making this journey so much fun.
Through the ups and downs and everything in between
I am so thankful for you, my Kohawk family.
Love always,
Jessy Holen
